Angelina Jolie Lived In A “Little Apartment” Despite Going To Beverly Hills High School
During a press tour for her film, The Bone Collector, Jolie was asked about her time Beverly Hills High School which was portrayed in the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000). The interviewer described the school as an “amusing place,” which the Oscar winner thought was a misconception. “Not at all, really. I was there two years and then in my third year, I went to this continuation section where they usually put the bad kids,” she said.
“But I kind of volunteered to go,” Jolie clarified, adding that it wasn’t as glamorous as the show depicted. “I wasn’t allowed on campus. And I was in the back room near the oil where you come up the backway, and you go in a few hours, and you leave,” she said. “I was in the basement section of Beverly Hills High.”
“A lot of people think I grew up with a lot of money and a famous father,” Jolie said of her tough high school days. “But we were in a little apartment and didn’t have much.”
The Tomb Raider star also revealed that not everyone in that school was well-off. “It’s actually very tough for kids to go to that school because there are a lot of kids that don’t have the computers, and have the cars, and have everything,” she explained. “There’s a lot of underprivileged kids that are somebody’s aunt lives in Beverly Hills and so they get to go for the education but they can’t wear the clothes that, you know.”
